Prime Minister of Ethiopia recently announced the completion of Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), formerly known as the Millennium Dam.

Statement 1 is correct: The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) is the largest hydroelectric power plant in Africa, with an installed capacity of over 6.4 GW. Its scale far surpasses other projects on the continent.

Statement 2 is not correct: The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) is located on the Blue Nile in Benishangul-Gumuz region of Ethiopia near the Sudanese border. The Blue Nile, originating in Ethiopia, provides about 85% of the Nile&rsquo;s total flow and meets the White Nile which flows from Lake Victoria through Uganda and South Sudan.

Statement 3 is correct: The GERD reservoir holds 74 billion cubic meters of water but covers only 1,874 km&sup2;. This ratio indicates a deep reservoir, meaning a small surface area relative to its volume, which helps reduce evaporation losses
