Statement 1 is not correct: The Prime-minister (PM) is the ex-officio chairman of the NBWL,not the Union environment minister. The National Board may, at its discretion, constitute a Standing Committee of the NBWL which is headed by the Union environment minister.

Statement 2 is correct: The National Board for Wildlife is a statutory body. It was created in 2003 after amending The Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972. The NBWL basically restructured the Indian Board for Wildlife (IBWL), established in 1952.

Statement 3 is correct: The WLPA 1972 requires the approval or recommendation of the NBWL for activities such as constructing tourist lodges, altering the boundaries of protected areas, diverting or modifying wildlife habitats, and de-notifying Tiger Reserves.
